The following screenshots are taken from both the Windows Mobile and Palm OS versions of Pleco; the Windows Mobile version is on the left, the Palm OS version is on the right. For more screenshots, see our online instruction manual.

maindict maindictpalm

A basic character search. You can enter characters using handwriting recognition or a built-in radical table.

ai2 aidictpalm

A Pinyin search. You can enter Pinyin with or without tones.

anjing anjingpalm

A mixed character/Pinyin search, speeding up lookups for words where you recognize one character but don't recognize the other.

applefull applefullpalm

A full-text search, letting you find any dictionary entry which contains a particular word in its definition / examples.

inputhwr inputhwrpalm

Handwriting input - just draw the character you're looking for and Pleco will recognize it. You can take as long as you like to draw the character (there's no timer, you hit Recognize when you're done) and our recognition engine supports cursive writing and even tolerates some mistakes in stroke order.

hwrfullpaldraw hwrfullwritingpalm

You can also write characters right in the main dictionary screen.

inputrad inputradpalm

Along with handwriting input, Pleco also includes a built-in radical table like you'd find in a printed dictionary.

charinfostroke charinfostrokepalm

Stroke order diagrams; simply tap on any character to bring up its stroke order.

selfreveal selfrespalm

Flashcard test; Pleco includes several different flashcard test modes. In this one, you look at part of a card, reveal the whole card and grade yourself on whether or not you remembered it correctly.

freetest freepalm

In this flashcard mode, you actually have to write in the correct characters for the supplied Pinyin/definition.

mctest mcpalm

There's also a good old-fashioned multiple-choice test mode.

strokeres strokerespalm

And a mode where you're prompted to tap on a character's strokes in the correct order.

reader readerpalm

There's also a built-in document reader; you can use this to read through a Chinese-language text file and look up unknown words simply by tapping on them.
